The July Course

The July Course at Newmarket Races covers a distance of two miles and 24 yards, with a right handed bend at the halfway point; the first mile is actually part of the Cesarewitch course and the last part is the straight Bunbury Mile. All races up to a mile take place on straight course, which is undulating and difficult to handle, it rises sharply in the final furlong becoming a severe test for those horses with stamina doubts.

The course hosts all Newmarket summer fixtures, including the famous July Meeting as well as the many evening meets and summer Saturdays.

The July Course is in the midst of a major refurbishment that has increased the capacity and has introduced several exceptional improvements to the course. It is expected that full refurbishment will not be complete for at least three more years.
