The July Festival

The July Meeting refocuses the attention to Newmarket’s July Course, which lies adjacent to the National Stud on the approach to Newmarket Town. The July Course is home to all of Newmarket’s Summer fixtures, the main one being the famous July Meeting. In 2009 the July Festival will take place between July 8-10.

The Festival is more than just racing although that is enough for most folk, but iit provides the opportunity to dress up and enjoy the many associated events that racecourse put on for its visitors. The first day is all about fashion and classical music, best dressed competitions are run and there are concerts played live throughout the day. The feature race is the Group One Falmouth Stakes over 1 mile for Fillies and Mares and has been running since 1911 although it has not always been known as the Falmouth Stakes.

Lady’s Day takes place on day Two, but on Day Three it’s the July Cup Day where some of the fastest horses around compete for the title of Champion Sprinter

The July Festival is three days of great racing, great variety and great memories.
